Artistic Director Bio
Maureen Glennon is a dancer, choreographer and dance educator. She is founder and artistic director of moe-tion dance theater, a new New Jersey modern dance company making it's mark! Maureen's choreography has been presented extensively throughout the tri-state area including WaxWorks/University Settlement House, NJ Arts Collaborative/George Street Playhouse, Hatch Series/Jennifer Muller the Works Studio, The Field/Performance Zone, Soundance at the Barn, Cathedral Arts Festival, Movement Research/DTW studios, Sweat Dance Festival, Outlet Dance Project/Grounds for Sculpture, American College Dance Festivals, and the National High School Dance Festival, to name a few. Her work has been commissioned by Montclair State University, Beyondance, County College of Morris, Ballet Forte, numerous high school dance departments throughout NJ and Steffi Nossen School of Dance in White Plains, NY. Most recently Maureen was invited to perform and create a new work for The Arts Access Program at Matheny Medical and Educational Center. Matheny is a special hospital, special education school, and residential facility for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Maureen has danced professionally with Freespace Dance (1997-2004), where she is an original co-founder, Beyondance and Umoja Dance Company. Her first professional dance gig was performing with Nicholas Rodriguez and Dance Compass, with whom she toured nationally. Maureen has taught at many private and public schools in New Jersey as a visiting artist and has been a guest teacher for many American College and High School Dance Festivals throughout the United States. She on staff in the Performing Arts Departments of Somerset Vo Tech High School, County College of Morris, where she earned her AS in Recreation & Leisure/Dance and Montclair State University, where she earned her BFA in Dance.
